Marc Ellison has been called up to the Northern Knights side for their Inter-Provincial Series Twenty20 clash with Leinster Lightning at The Green on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old is the only new name in the 13-man squad, replacing Paul Stirling who has departed for England to join up with his new Northants team-mates ahead of the Vitality Twenty20 Blast.
Stirling’s absence leaves a gap at the top of the order and there are no shortage of candidates to fill it with Ellison, Ross Adair, Shane Getkate and Ruhan Pretorius all more than capable of partnering James McCollum.
David Delany should make his first Knights appearance of the season after also being included in the squad.
The Knights started their defence of the Twenty20 Trophy with a narrow two-run (D/L) victory over the North West Warriors at Bready on Thursday.
Although losing Andrew Balbirnie and Gareth Delany to the T20 Blast, Lightning head coach Nigel Jones still has a quality side to pick from with the likes of George Dockrell, Kevin O’Brien and Curtis Campher all set to play a role.
The last time the two sides met in the shortest format it was the Knights that won by eight runs on their way to lifting the title in 2019.
Squad: Gary Wilson (Capt), Mark Adair, Ross Adair, David Delany, Shane Getkate, Graeme McCarter, James McCollum, Jacob Mulder, Ruhan Pretorius, Harry Tector, CJ van der Walt. Marc Ellison, Josh Manley.
